![]() Lord, help me to treasure and feed on Your Scriptures and allow You to speak to me in and through them, Amen. Read, Reflect, Memorise and Pray the Scriptures – and seek to adapt your thinking and living to their guidance. Our minds are only peacefully free when they are under the authority of Truth. “When we say that God’s word is sacred, we mean that God’s word is full of God’s presence.” The starting point is to continually feed our minds with God’s words and to allow them not just to inform us but to form our thinking and way of living. It is one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit to “guide you into all truth.” (John 16:13) For that to happen we must be prepared to seek and surrender to His guidance – and not attempt to have Him confirm our own opinions and prejudices. thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the. As the rain and the snow come down from hea. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. ![]() In the complexities of life we may not find it easy to discern the truth at times. Isaiah 55:8-11 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me” (Matthew 11:29) As we accept His direction and purpose for our lives and connect with Him on the journey we will learn more from the reality of that companionship than in isolated thought. This often comes not from reflections in an armchair but when engaged with Him on the road of life and living. We seek to understand what it is that He is saying and how it impacts upon our lives and situations. That does not mean that we do not engage His teaching with our minds. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”(Isaiah 55:8-9) ” my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. If God is truly the Almighty then it is clear that Our minds are often the last part of us that we submit completely to Him. It is still the error into which so many of us fall. This was the mistake made by Eve and Adam in the Creation account. To do otherwise is to elevate ourselves above Him and give ourselves the option to disagree and to ignore His teaching. For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. On the contrary we are called to hear and obey His words. If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. His word and ministry are not subject to our understanding and approval. If Jesus is to be truly Lord then He has to be Lord of our minds as well. “Jesus answered, “It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
